Destroy a luxury bag. Make a sandal.

The actual move
MSCHF dismantled genuine Birkin bags and used their leather to construct sandals.
Why it makes the cut
The expensive input is destroyed in public. The manufacturing process becomes a critique of how luxury value is assigned.
What separates it from ordinary marketing
A logo swap would only borrow status. Cutting up the status object makes an irreversible choice, and the finished sandal carries evidence of the argument.
Source & limits
An MSCHF project, not an official Hermès or Birkenstock collaboration.
